2.1 ALUMINUM DOOR FRAME
ALUMINUM DOORS AND GLAZING FRAMES

  1. A. Type and design:
    1. Aluminum alloy 6063-T5 extruded and fabricated to shapes as required for each application, for knock down field assembly.
    2. Nominal wall thickness of Main Frame Members: 0.075 inches.
    3. Hinge and strike backing plates to be drilled, tapped and installed by frame manufacturer.
    4. Fasteners and Hardware: aluminum, stainless steel, or other non-corrosive materials compatible with aluminum and acceptable to frame manufacturer. Countersunk style. Exposed fasteners not permitted.
    5. Provide continuous PVC Vinyl smoke seal around perimeter of doorstop.
    6. All Frame members shall arrive at job site mortised, drilled and tapped for hinge and strike locations.
    7. Frame design must permit installation over pre-finished walls.
    8. Profile shall be 1 ½. standard or custom casing as selected by Architect, 5/16. minimum wall standoff required.
  2. Manufacturer
    1. ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER: AAF . ADVANCED ARCHITECTURAL FRAMES, STANTON, CA.; 714-894-4698, is specified as design standard.
    2. Finish: Thermal-setting polyester to meet or exceed AAMA Specification 603.8 or higher:
      1. Application: Finish must be factory applied to ensure controlled firm thickness and smooth surface.
      2. Color: Standard or Custom color as selected by Architect.
    3. Finish: Commercial anodized . minimum coating thickness of 0.0002.
      1. Commercial clear
      2. Commercial dark bronze ALUMINUM DOORS AND GLAZING FRAMES  
    4. Finish: Class II anodized . minimum coating thickness os 0.0004.
          a. Class II black
2. 2 FINISH HARDWARE
  1. Secure templates from the finish hardware supplier, and accurately install, or make provision for, all finish hardware at the factory.
