ADVANCED ARCHITECTURAL FRAMES (AAF) door and window frames are designed to provide you with the architectural beauty that only aluminum can provide. The beauty, durability and reliability are provided at economical prices. The packaging is provided with a sturdy box that facilitates shipping and storing. Installation is accomplished with remarkable ease.

Manufacturing specifications:

A. Frames are packaged in a knockdown assembly as a standard.
B. Door frames are factory mortised with predrilled and tapped hinge and strike backing plates that will
have a nominal thickness of 0.125 inches.
C. Frames are constructed of extruded aluminum alloy 6063-T5 and have a nominal wall thickness of 0.075
inch.
D. Standard hinge preparation will be the 5-10 equal-equal method unless specified otherwise.
E. Hinge preparation is designed for 4 ½. and 4 ½. x 4. 0.134 gauge hinges. Strike preparation is for
4 7/8. ASA as standard - 2 3/4. T-strike prep available upon request.
F. Vinyl (black, gray or white) or wool-pile gasketing (black, gray or white) are available by choice.
Vinyl provided U.O.N.
G. Snap-On trim provides cover of side-mounting installation process such that the architectural beauty of
the frame is preserved.
H. Door frames are designed for 1 ¾. door thickness.
I. Glazing frames are designed for ¼" glass and 3/8" or 1/2" for 4 7/8" glazing systems.
J. Jambs are square cut and trim is mitered as standard.

20-Minute ratings are available for all of the following with a minimum wall thickness of 3 3/8.

• 4-0 x 10-0 Single Opening
• 4-0 x 10-0 plus 2-0 x 10-0
Borrowed Lites of 4-0 x 9-0 and 50 x 5-0

C. Black, dark bronze, clear anodized and mil (raw aluminum) stick is available in all cross sections.

Specifications

Door and window frames (borrowed lites) shall be manufactured by AAF located in Stanton,
California. Doorframes shall be constructed of extruded aluminum alloy-6063-T5. All doorframes
shall have a nominal thickness of 0.075 inches. All strike and hinge backing plated shall have a
nominal wall thickness of 0.125 inches. Hinge and strike backing plates are factory installed. Hinge
placement will be determined by the 5-10 equal-equal method. (Contact AAF for complete
information for hinge placement). Door gasketing shall be continuous around the perimeter of the
doorstop and shall be made with PVC vinyl or wool pile. Doorframes will be manufactured with one
inch scribe (1. over the finished opening height) to allow for floor variances. Prefitting of wood doors
shall conform to frame manufacturers. specification. Installation of frames and doors as a unit shall be
over the finished wall and in accordance with the manufacturers. installation instructions.
